Scope
DersWerk LLC’s scope of practice involves the palpation, assessment, treatment of soft tissue and movement awareness education with the goal to relieve pain, increase mobility and function, improve posture, enhance and movement performance, decrease muscle hypertonicity and fascial restrictions in the body. This treatment is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure nor prevent any disease.
Procedure & Informed Consent
Movement and collaboration is invited and called for. Your practitioner will likely ask you to walk, stand, bend or move in other ways, and will inquire about body sensations or awareness of your movement during a session.
Deep tissue massage & bodywork may or may not produce intense sensation depending on each individual’s tolerance. It is your role to use upfront and transparent dialogue when touch feels unproductive so that your practitioner can adjust accordingly. Generally speaking, unbearable or “ugly” pain in a session is unproductive. However, use discretion and trust your body.
Some areas of the body which feel more vulnerable to touch could be manually manipulated during your session, including: the gluteal region, the front of the neck, the chest (near, under and around, but never directly applied to female breast tissue), armpit, belly, lower back or sides of the back, the sacral region, the inner thigh region or the groin region. It is important to inform your practitioner of any discomfort with these areas being touched before beginning our session.
DersWerk LLC does not offer relaxation, spa nor Swedish massage. DersWerk LLC does not offer Tantric bodywork nor “erotic” massage. DersWerk LLC does not offer John Barnes’ Myofascial Release (MFR), any forms of lymphatic, nor oncology massage/bodywork.
Attire & Lotions
You are required by law to be covered appropriately in-session. For our purposes, the use of form-fitting, working attire (running shorts, a sports bra & shorts for the female-bodied or appropriate underwear) is used for assessment and treatment during our appointment.
This work does not typically use lubricant or oils but may employ a small amount of wax-based lubricant and/or water. Please refrain from using oil-based moisturizers or lotions on your skin the night before, day-of and in the hours prior to our session.
Missed Appointments or Tardiness
If you are going to be more than 15 minutes late to your appointment, call, text or leave a voicemail on the DersWerk LLC business line: (608) 333-9996. Depending on the day, if you’re over 15-20 minutes late, it may be considered a “no-show.”
Any cancellations or reschedules require at least 24-hours notice before the time of your appointment. No-shows, as well as cancellations or reschedules within 24 hours will be charged the full price of the session with the card kept on file.
Exceptions include illnesses, funerals and emergencies.
Package Pricing & Rates
The discounted rate of series packages are due before or day-of of the first series session, and not after. Extra sessions may be recommended by your provider, will not be included in the price of the package discount, and will therefore be charged the full price of the session.
DersWerk LLC’s rates are set firmly at the rate published on the date and time of your appointment, and not at the time of scheduling. Gratuity is not expected nor customary, though is accepted just as graciously as the set rate.
Misc.
DersWerk LLC requires the presence of a parent, grandparent, legal guardian or supervision approved by legal guardian for the treatment of a minor. All policies herein apply to the guardian, where appropriate, for the treatment of a minor.
DersWerk LLC’s treatment durations may exceed the appointment time from 5-15 minutes, at no extra monetary charge and sometimes without warning. Please allow extra time in your schedule afterwards!
DersWerk LLC reserves the right to refuse service to anyone, for any personal, legal, health or safety reason, at any time.
